At times she is almost soothing, but more often she is completely inside this stuttering machine. Her voice is one that reflects a certain isolation nestled in the very heart of seeming connectivity. Unmoving hum meets the fragile identity. Hard to ignore. Presented in a numbered edition of 50 hand stamped 3" cdrs. Weird nods to 60's psych and pop actresses give no immediate answers as this music exists on another plane entirely -where going to the movies is like washing your face with wet cement. Ttotals are a duo from Nashville, TN creating some of the finest new psychedelic rock music around. This is their debut statement and it contains four beautiful songs built around minimal riffs and pounding drums. They might pay tribute to some of the old greats, but this sound is all their own. I am inspired by what these guys are doing and I hope this reaches some receptive ears. Half of these are going to be with the band at shows, so catch them while you can! Available in a numbered edition of 60 hand stamped 3" cdrs. As snma, Jay gives you no ground to stand on as he leads you throw the bleg maze. Lots of negative space and a strong singular vision makes this stand out from the current noise crowd and feel more like a work of sound art from another era. If you haven't checked out one of his releases before, you're in for a treat. Expect harsh, mind-penetrating tones and lots of subliminal whisperings. MPA has a unique vision that is always realized in precise detail. On this occasion MPA is joined by April Larson and the Dawgranch Children's Choir on vocals. Presented in a numbered edition of 50 hand stamped 3" cdrs. Manipulated photo by the artist. "The Life of Bridgette Driscoll" finds the pair working over their particular blend of post synth-pop in an especially melancholic and introspective manner. Sheets of distorted drone collide with sweet melodies and a robotic drum loop to create a mood of contemplation. This ode to the somewhat obscure Bridgette Driscoll effectively brings up a certain mournfulness without ever sounding like a dirge. It's a unique signpost on the journey of this incredible duo. It's a mysterious and brief journey that leaves you feeling opened up. One of the best from Pink Priest for sure. Presented in a numbered edition of 50 hand stamped 3" cdrs. With "Infi Cycles", Cloud presents us with another chapter of his unfolding drone saga- one populated with precise hypnotic waves of static and hum. The sound sculptures that are created are ominous yet strangely comforting- blankets of sound covering the false realities of this world. It's an honor to work with Scott, his output never disappoints. of him demonstrating his home made oscillotrope, I was expecting him to deliver a blast of harsh noise to me. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised when he invited me over to hear his new project- This is Communication, which has a lot more in common with "Slanted and Enchanted" and "Loveless" than Merzbow. The home made noise makers are still present, but now they are being mixed with guitars, drums and vocals to create a unique drone-pop blend that is equal parts pure texture and sentimental pop melody. Signals converge and form songs, only to be deconstructed again into fragments of ideas and half finished sentences in the end. Presented on a 3" cdr in a hand numbered edition of 50. The four tracks on this disc offer a brief glimpse into a soundworld built upon subtle, almost unmoving, melodies and textural backdrops. A sense of calm introspection and quiet sadness looms in the background of each of these co-mingling tracks of shimmering beauty. It is an honor to present a work from such a sensitive sound artist. This is definitely one to pay attention to. The intent was for me to use these raw recordings to craft something new. The process was a strange one that evolved very organically and quickly- almost feeling like I was being guided by the tape itself. The result is a bizarre tribal trip into fields of tape hiss. It stuck with me as a representation of a feeling of complete freedom and joy. Later, I revisited the melody in a teenage post-punk band- and now, 10 years after that occurrence, the melody returns again to further transport me. It has been filtered through my current state and barely resembles its original form, but the essence is still there.
